Silent Worship

There is worship in a whisper.

Can you really worship without saying a word?  Ask someone who is deaf and you will have your answer.  We tend to look at the outward expression, the vocal affirmations, of our faith and think we are loving our Lord.  And yet, what if we weren’t able to speak?  What if we weren’t able to move?  Would that discount our worship?  Would God discount you?

The Bible tells us in 1 Samuel 16:7 that, although man looks at the outward appearance,

God does not see as man sees…“the Lord looks at the heart.”

That should propel us into new depths with our Father.  To know that we can be laid bare, our hearts spilled out before Him, without even uttering a single word.

  • He sees our hearts.
  • He knows our struggles.
  • He is acquainted with our frailties.
  • He has healed our iniquity.
  • He truly loves us.

HOW DO WE RESPOND

How do we begin to respond to a love like that?  How do we adequately affirm our love for Him?  Sometimes, it is done in the silence, as we simply sit in His presence and allow Him to pour His love on us.  When Jesus visited with His friends at Bethany, Martha was busy with many preparations.  She was ticked off because her sister was just sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening and drinking in His presence.  When Martha complained to the Lord, He reminded her that Mary had chosen the better way.

CHOOSE THE BETTER WAY

Let’s choose the better way.  Let’s languish at His feet.  Let’s find the healing, refreshing, joy, love, and peace that we need so desperately in this LOUD world.  Whether it’s in your war room, prayer closet, or simply sitting at the foot of your bed, seek the Lord while He may be found.  I promise you that He is waiting so eagerly and so patiently for you to just come and sit.
